Pushing for that extra MASS!!
I’ve had a lot of conversations with my guys recently and they are all in pretty much agreement that pushing correctly in an offseason phase is much more taxing than any prep scenario!
Done correctly to put your body in a position where you need to secure enough new muscle tissue to make an impact the next time you’re on stage is going to take some commitment. Your body is almost in an uncomfortable position 24/7 energy levels can be low therefore trying to train at 100% becomes a struggle. Recovery can hinder because sleep can sometimes be affected just from being full! Some of my guys are consuming are monsters and will consume in the region of 7-10k cals daily…. Now this has to be managed correctly… close one to one support allows me to push and pull these when I see fit through feedback from an athlete.
Training volume has to be adjusted to suit each individual as this will take a hit has bodyweight increases. Remember training is our number 1 tool… the calories and PEDs are adjusted accordingly on feedback from this. If this is not optimal how we can expect all other aspects to be!
Treat your offseason like a prep…. You are preparing yourself for that next prep!! Yes there is the allowance of a bit of flexibility through this phase…. You need that…! Just make sure you are pushing yourself past your comfort zone and applying yourself 100% ….
I will map out all of my athletes season so they will always know how long they will be pushing for which gives them the focus to really drive forward for that added mass!!
