The same sole, two different summers.
A flat sandal lives or dies on the bit you cannot see. The Penelope gets that right first: a padded footbed, a moulded rubber outsole, and a cotton jersey lining that keeps the strap from turning slick by lunchtime. Then it puts a crisscross vamp over the top, which is the shape that holds a foot without cutting a line across it.
The woven leather version is the one that will still look deliberate in three summers. Handwoven uppers move with the foot instead of creasing at one hinge point, and cognac is the colour that stops looking new fastest, in the way you want.
