A leather blazer is a tailoring problem wearing an outerwear disguise. Lapel, shoulder seam, single closure — every bit of architecture that makes a suit jacket read as competence is still there, and then it's cut from hide, so the sentence never quite finishes the way a wool one would. That gap is the entire appeal. You get the authority of tailoring without having agreed to be sensible about it.
Vince's is the version worth studying, because "shrunken" is doing real work in that name: a compact body and a close shoulder, so it sits over a knit or a slip dress without stacking bulk at the waist — which is where most leather jackets quietly go wrong. Leather is also the rare material that softens with wear and keeps its line while it does it, so a good one ages into the shape of you rather than out of fashion.
Treat it as a blazer, not a coat. Over black straight-leg denim it makes an ordinary Tuesday look deliberate; over something slight in the evening it does the job a coat would flatten. The only thing it won't tolerate is being worn open over another structured layer — pick one shoulder and commit to it.
